It will be a family affair in the Glazer’s St. Louis home for the Season 5 premiere of “Worst Cooks in America” on the Food Network. It’s not every day a  family member is on a national television show.
“It’s amazing,” Steve Glazer said of his son. “We are very excited. It’s all very cool.”

Mike Glazer is a writer and comedian who graduated from Webster University in 2006 with a degree in screenwriting. He has worked at Chicago’s legendary “Second City” comedy club. Glazer lives and works in Los Angeles. During this season of “Worst Cooks,” he will compete against 13 other contestants who must learn how cook to move forward.

Glazer’s parents, Steve and Wendi, are both thrilled and eager to see their son compete in the challenge. They have invited friends and family to come and watch the season opener at their house. A banner in the family’s front yard tells Mike’s childhood neighborhood to watch him on the show.

“We have no idea what to expect,” Steve Glazer said. “It’s the most exciting thing in the world.”
Celebrity chefs Bobby Flay and Anne Burrell host “Worst Cooks in America” on the Food Network. The “culinary boot camp” is a seven-week competition where cooking-challenged contestants battle to be the last cook standing. The winner gets to go home $25,000 richer.

The Food Network’s “meet the recruits” web page says Glazer is a “disaster when cooking with oil.” The reference is due to an incident involving a potato pancake, hot oil and a fire in his parent’s kitchen. Glazer’s father, Steve, says the incident was interesting and just a little mishap. The bio also says Glazer wants to learn to cook delicious meals for his girlfriend.

Steve Glazer said his son was always the funniest kid he knew. When Mike began telling jokes at the age of three, the child would walk away laughing because he thought they were hilarious. He said his son came away from Webster University with a good degree that has laid the groundwork for the passion he is currently pursuing.

“It’s really very exciting,” Steve Glazer said. “Anytime you see your son anyplace like that is an unbelievable thing to think about.”

The “Worst Cooks in America” airs on the Food Network Monday nights at 8 p.m.
